A Note From Sharon....
Greetings!
My letter starts with an important reminder – Carla Stark is running for Board Member at
Large of the Society of Decorative Painters. Please support Carla by sending in your absentee
ballot if you won’t be attending the Wichita Conference and voting in person. The information
is in your current magazine on page 123. Just photocopy the ballot and follow the mailing
instructions. The important reminder is: Must be postmarked by April 9, 2012.
Thank you to our paint-in teachers, Teresa and Joanne. Teresa was a first-time teacher
at Cactus Wren and we want to thank her for a great class. I don’t want to overlook
Joanne Hayman, a many, many time teacher for Cactus Wren and nationally. We really do appreciate
these teachers and all of our ladies who take their time and talents to share their skills with us.
In April we have our regular Meeting / Paint-In plus we have a colored pencil seminar
with Kelly Hoernig a week later. It should be fun and educational. If you haven’t signed
up be sure to contact Jeanie Miller. The supplies list is on our website.
Conference is less than 2 months away. The tags for table favors were distributed
at the March meeting. Everyone who volunteered should have them in hand. Remember the
theme is “Flights of Fancy”. They are asking for Wings like Birds, Butterflies or Bugs (that fly).
Put a small design on the back and SIGN YOUR NAME. Everyone wants to know who painted the items they receive.
Our 2012 ART SHOW is just weeks away. If you haven’t begun your entry this would be an excellent chance to
get the brushes HOT from a little overuse. You can get your entry number at the April meeting
or it will be available on-line and in the Newsletter. The categories will also be in the Newsletter and on-line.
In April we will be back at Pyle Center. All of those 10:00 a.m. starting times are gone. We will be starting at
9:00 a.m. for each meeting.
